she ate!
Copper is a very fit dog but in the winter she packs on an extra pound or two and you can no longer see her ribs. In the summer so is so active [even though she eats a lot] she slims down and you can see her ribs. I promise we feed her.
Four days into her protest I sat by her down bowl and asked her to eat some food. She picked out 1 piece of dog food...nibbled it and then swallowed. Dramatic. Once she swallowed I acted like a fool and cheered like she'd just took the gold medal, making her feel really special. Then she ate another single piece of dog food...and the crowd went wild. She ate half of the dog food that was in there and was done. But at least she ate.
Then she went back to chewing on toys.
Since that one day when I cheered for her she's back to not eating. She's not really acting sick. Still playing and running around. I wish she could just talk to let me know if something is really wrong or if she's just waiting for a filet mignon to show up in her bowl. I guess she'll eat when she's hungry enough. I can't see her ribs yet, so that's a good sign. This is the 'high maintenance' I talk about all the time.
We just switched her dog food to a different, more expensive, better for her, kind and she decided that she didn't like it. Her solution? Stop eating indefinitely. As a protest.

somewhere in there is nutritional value
I wanted a cookie but all I had was this.

It was so rich I couldn't finish but it was good. We need new batteries in our bathroom scale and I haven't been able to weigh myself in a few days. Usually, if the number goes up 1-2 lbs I eat lots of fruit that day until it goes back down...then I let myself eat something crappy like this. There is a method to my madness.

jumpin' jumpin'
Yesterday Molly was all jacked up. She moved the...entire...day. Sometimes hurting me but most times just making me laugh. It was crazy. I definitely had no control of my midsection. She claimed every inch of it and made it look like there was an alien in there or something. Where ever I walked my belly would jump and wiggle. When I sat? My belly was jumpin jumpin.
It was really sweet though. The feeling of having your baby move in your belly is such a sweet thing. It's one of my favorite things about pregnancy. We have such a special bond from the very beginning with our children.
When we went to bed, Andy and I laid there and watched her go crazy for a while. My heart melted just thinking how sweet and funny she already is. Putting on a performance. A dramatic, entertaining performance for her Daddy and I.
We said our good nights and I rolled over on my left side to go to bed and she stopped moving. I thought I was in the clear to shut my eyes and get a good nights sleep. Then all of the sudden she started jumping on the mattress. I'M NOT KIDDING...it was like she flipped around, put her feet on the mattress [because I was on my side] and starting JUMPING. Her feet would pound the mattress then the other side of my belly would jolt up when her head hit. And it's not like she did it once. She probably did it ten times in a row. I felt so out of control and all I could do was laugh. It was hilarious. She be crazy!

under the dryers
Mom and I both had hair appointments yesterday at the same time. We didn't plan that but it was funny and we even got to sit next to each other while our hair color processed. Not that you can really hear anything when you're sitting under that dryer...but we tried.

We had mom's hairdresser take this picture. It's not very flattering. It's like getting your picture taken with wet hair when you look like a drown rat. Never pretty.
Mom kept saying "Oh gross! Disgusting! I look like Regis!"

Sorry mom, I couldn't resist. ha!

in pix
1. Let's smooch: Colt's Valentine Balloon. Now every time he sees a cow in a book, he gives it a smooch.
2. 30 weeks.
3. Maternity compression pantyhose. Is it possible for your toes to feel claustrophobic?...Because I'm close to cutting the feet out. I got in these suckers but it was ugly and I'm pretty sure Colt is going to need some counseling after witnessing his pregnant mother struggle and flop around on her bed in her underwear trying to put on some dang pantyhose.
4. Coppers new headrest is Molly. She be a pretty dawwwwg.

testing it out
This is our new sleeper/rocker we got for Molly. I'm really excited to test this baby out. We're going to use it in our room instead of a pack-n-play. It's sort of like a sling and the baby sits at an angle which all babies like angles as opposed to flat on mattress.I tried to stop Colt from testing out Molly's new seat for the first 5 minutes after assembling but decided that was a fight I didn't want to keep fighting. So, he climbs in there sometimes. It hasn't broken or ripped yet, which is a great sign since he maxed out the weight limit on that sucker 6lbs ago. Sometimes ya gotta choose your battles.
He looks cozy though, right?
I'm measuring two weeks ahead and my doc said we'd create a birth plan for baby girl at 38 weeks...which makes me happy and makes Andy, the pessimist, say over and over, 'You're gonna go to your due date.' He doesn't want me to get my hopes up. I get it. But how can you not get excited at the thought of meeting your little one sooner than later?
You can't. It's too exciting.

a play by play
Get up and get ready for OB appointment.
Get Colt up and dressed.
Eat breakfast.
Load the diaper bag.
Let the dog out.
Load the car.
Put Colt in car seat.
Go to put Copper in her Kennel.
Head explodes as she runs away and barfs all over my house.
Clean up dog barf.
Almost barf myself.
Get in car & realize I have our new double stroller in the back instead of single stroller.
Switch strollers and knock over the snow blower trying to make room in garage.
Fall against my dirty car in my white coat.
Consider crying.
Consider swearing.
Drive to Dr's office [running 10 minutes late now].
Arrive to my OB, check myself in.
Notice that everyone and their mother made an OB appointment for today.
Find a spot to sit and Colt starts getting antsy.
Distract him with some saltines & apple juice.
Colt pours apple juice all over himself.
Get him out of stroller, he runs away.
He finds a pen and draws all over himself.
Clean him up, then he starts to poop.
Reach for the wipes & a diaper.
Realize there are no diapers in my bag.
Consider crying.
Consider barfing.
Start sweating.
Realize we've been waiting for 40 minutes.
Ask front desk how much longer...I'm told we're next.
Three more people get called before we do.
Put Colt in stroller and walk in circles until we get called [1hr, 10mins later].
See Dr. & get measured. Hear heartbeat. Baby girl is happy and growing.
Load Car and drive home.
Sit. Exhale. Eat. Blog.

howdy
Who's that kid standing in my living room??? Ahhh, yes, it's my baby :(
SO GROWN!
And man! Look at the head!
He takes after his momma.
Anywho, we've been busy around here lately. As my Valentines day gift from Andy he took a week off work! He's in the last sprint of Paramedic school. He graduates April 4th so he's been going, going, going trying to get all of his ER time in at the hospital and making sure he's got enough patients from his time on the Ambulance.
Not only did he need a break in the middle of the madness, but I needed my husband. Let's just face it, I can pretty much cry on cue these days and all I would have to do is think of how much longer until I see him next and instant tears. Last week he was only home two nights. CRAZY! Sometimes I wonder if Colt gets sick of me???? Luckily he can't talk yet and I don't have to hear the answer to that question.
We've had a great week. Lots of family time. Lots of shared meals. Lots of tickle attacks and fires in our fireplace. I love my family. I can't wait to have our old everyday routine back. He goes back to work on Wednesday and then I pretty much won't see him again until he's done with school but then Molly will be here and he gets another 3 weeks vacation when she arrives. I see the light people!!
Molly is doing great too. She's moving a ton, getting big and testing the thread strength on my shirts...luckily most are stretchy. I'm 30 weeks now which means she's practically here. I'm so extremely ready for nice weather too. I want to just walk around the block and not have snot freeze to my face. That would be nice. Until then I'm gonna start walking on a treadmill and on Wednesday Chelssie, Kaley, myself and our clan o' kids are going to walk the mall. Which is funny cause I used to think that mall walkers were weird.
Well well well, how the turntables...have turned.
Thank you Michael Scott.

you look silly
Colt has been throwing [or trying to throw] temper tantrums lately. When I grab his hand to lead him out of my bedroom or try to remove him from a situation he doesn't want to be removed from he'll do the ol' lazy bones and pretend he can't walk. Typically tears follow and he becomes a hot mess.
Instead of trying to yank him up off the floor by his arms or get mad...I just let him slide into a puddle on the floor. Then I say, "Colt, look at Mommy. You look silly. This isn't working so can we go now?" And I don't know what it is, but he stops crying and is like, Man, I do look silly.
I take his hand, pull him back up on his feet, and we walk out of the room together...his wet noodle body has magically been healed and off we go.
I'm sure this won't always work, the whole reasoning with a child thing but for now I'm thankful it does, and it saves my larger-than-life pregnant body from bending over and man handling a 30lb toddler.
He's also learned to run as fast as he can at naptime to the far, back corner of his monster tent because it's a pain for me to waddle back there on my hands and knees, pick him up, and carry him out...so instead I grab his foot and yank him from the safty of his monster home.

in my 5 disc
In the mornings Colt and I eat breakfast together, watch a Veggie Tales episode and then the boob tube get shut off for the day and I turn on my sound system. Yes, I still buy CD's. I don't own an ipod and I'm sure I'll get tomatoes thrown at me for saying that, just don't aim for the baby.
Call me old fashioned or lame, but I pop CD's in my sound system [Andy would be proud I didn't say 'boom box' which I so lovingly still call my sound system] and blast them all day long. Colt and I spend the rest of the day reading, dancing, singing and yes, sometimes I even clean.
So here's the CD's in my 5 disc (I've included my very own 5 '#' rating system):
5) Free by Gavin DeGraw. ####
Go ahead and start forming your opinions of me because of my music choice selection. Did you think it'd be loaded with Britney Spear's greatest hits? Oh she's made the list before...don't you worry.
What's playing in your boom box?

anyone seen my mind?
When I was pregnant with Colt my boss started to joke with me because she could slowly start to see my brain power deteriorate. BP [before pregnancy] I was quick, detailed, efficient...pretty much, really good at my job. Then I got pregnant and I lost my pea pickin' mind.
After Colt I found my mind for a little while but I never fully recovered.
Well friends...the Mo you used to know is gone again and may never return, at least the kinda-smart part of her is gone.
If I don't write it down...don't plan on me being there.
If I'm not told...I don't know what day it is.
If my husband doesn't remind me...I forget about the little boy I watch on Thursdays.
Today, after being up for 3 hours I even forgot about Copper who sleeps in her kennel in the basement at nights. I never let her out...I forgot I had a dog!
So, if I recently missed your wedding, or your birthday or my birthday...don't take it personally.
