momma's boy

When we become debt free [12 months and counting!] we're treating ourselves to an awesome camera. Until then, you'll have to bare with all these fuzzy pictures. Aren't they cute though?

I must say although these two hams are best buddies...Colt is turning into quite the mommas boy. I love it, don't get my wrong but with Andy rarely being home to help out, I embrace nap time.

A few days ago Andy was feeding Colt some lunch and I was running around cleaning. He never took his eyes off me and when he couldn't see me he started to cry. I didn't really put two and two together [thinking that he was crying for me and not just whining...he does that a lot these days...cutting teeth sucks] until Andy was like, 'I think he's crying because he wants some Momma attention.' -- So we tested it. I stood in one spot. Turned my back towards him. He cried. I turned around and faced him. He stopped crying. I turned back around...he started to cry again.

Last night around 3 am his paci fell out and he started to cry. He'll do this every once in a while and all we usually do is walk in and insert paci and he's back to sleep in no time. But last night, he remembered that I was his mom and the more he cries the more I come in to shut him up. I'd put his paci in...step back...and as soon as he couldn't see me anymore be began to cry hysterically. I'd open the door...walk to the crib and he'd stop. I took a few steps back...exited the room. Big freaking crocodile tears just pouring down his face. This isn't so cute at 3am. I went back to bed and tried to wait him out. 20 mins later I walked into room [crying stops almost instantly]...I check the diaper and bring him into our room and put him in his swing which is by our bed. He rocks himself to sleep and we're all one big happy family.

Tonight we went to visit my grandparents and he was an uncontrollable wiggle worm that wouldn't nap or stay focused and happy with something for more than 2.5 seconds.

Sometimes this mom stuff is exhausting. I love it though. These are just statments not complaints. Consider this a entry in my journal. And if I may add, I'm a flipping awesome mom. If I could have myself as a mom?? I'm pretty sure I would be as happy is Colt all the time. And I'm pretty sure everytime I walked out of the room, I'd be crying...for me. If only I got the same attention from Andy. :)

On Saturday Andy is off and we're celebrating my birthday. We're having a nice dinner with a few friends but besides that he asked me what else I wanted.

My answer was...
I want every second of your attention focused on me.

I want you to volunteer to change diapers.

I want you to do most of the feedings.

I want to chill on the couch, under my down comforter that smells like bleach.

I want to you to tell me that I'm a hottie at least 3 times [I just added that one.]

I want to not have to jump up and console Colt every time he bites his own finger.

I want Copper to be up your butt and in your way instead of mine.

I don't ask for much.
My love don't cost a thing.

1/2 dog...1/2 boy...

I found this under the bed...

25 years

Spencer and I are throwing my parents a 25Th Wedding Anniversary Reception in June and we surprised them with the news on Sunday! Mom cried when she read the invitation. Yes...it worked! We're putting them up in a Bed & Breakfast before the big shin dig because the reception is at their house...poolside. We've been saving since December. Their actual Anniversary was yesterday but in Indiana you have to wait for pretty weather so we're not celebrating until June.

My parents eloped and never had a reception...no showers...no nothing. So this is IT for them! This is going to be a serious reception. Mom gets to choose the cake...the flowers...the music. I'm excited.

We tweaked the guest list yesterday and there are 108 people being invited. Now I just have to make it happen!!

We will gladly accept the 'best-children-ever' award.

Congrats on 25 years Mom and Dad. You're superstars.

the fence

Do you ever have those moments when you WISH you would have had your video camera? Well, after mom's slide incident I should have recognized that my family is filled with the clumsiest people that ever walked the face of the earth and made an effort to keep my video camera in the pockets of my cargo pants at all times...just in case. The problem is I don't have cargo pants.

So here is what happened yesterday. Not anywhere NEAR as good as seeing it in real life...but worth telling.

Spencer [my bro] came over to hang out. He had bought Copper a new Frisbee. They were playing in the back yard. The Frisbee caught a gust of wind and went flying into our neighbors yard. Spencer says he'll go get it. He approaches the picket fence...

Spencer: Andy...You think I could clear this?

Andy: Eh...I don't know. That's a tough call. You probably could if you used your hand and hopped over the side.

Spencer: No. I think I can just run and hop over it. I'm gonna try.

Mo: Wait!! Let me get the video camera.

Spencer: No. I'm gonna just jump real quick.

Mo: No...just wait I'll be fast.

Spencer: No. I'm jumping. You're gonna miss it.

Mo: Fiiiiine.

Spencer takes a few steps back...runs a bit. Freaks himself out. Steps back some more. Starts running. His last step before he jumps is in our mulch/flower bed. His foot sinks a little in the mulch. His attempt of actually jumping is reduced to a slight hop. He completely straddles the fence and comes down hard. [ouch] Pain appears on his face. He starts to fall over but he doesn't fall by himself. Down with him comes an entire section of white picket fence. He lays in the fetus position holding onto any manhood he has left. Picket fence in between his legs. In my neighbors yard. Copper hops over him...finds her toy...come back to our yard.

Mo & Andy: [insert hysterical laughter]

Spencer: Am I bleeding?

If only I had cargo pants...

the slide

You need to watch this. It will make you laugh. Mom came with Colt and I to the park yesterday and had a very memorable experience. Watch.

what's this green stuff?

Discovering the world one blade of grass at a time.

the good i saw

Yesterday while driving to an appointment I came across a pretty bad car accident that left glass shattered all over the road and put a four lane [with a center turning lane] road down to two lanes going both ways. I didn't see them hit, but I was there as both drivers were able to open their doors and walk out of their cars.

The girl was late 20-somethings and the man [who from what I saw was the one that got hit] both stood and looked at their cars in shock of what had just happen.

The girl put her head in her hands and being to weep.

The man spent no more time assessing the damage but instead walked over to this stranger and held her while she cried.

And their they stood. Strangers. Standing in the rain. In five o'clock traffic on a busy street.

I don't know if that man knew Jesus but he showed God's love to a stranger and to about 100 other people slowly passing the accident in the middle of five o'clock traffic.

I like when I see good things.

mindreader/flying

Would you rather...
a. Be able to read peoples minds?
or
b. Have the ability to fly?

idk

Remember how Colt drooled over my cool phone so now I have Andy's hand-me-down phone? Well, with his old phone came all his old pictures/videos and I found some funny ones. Most are of him and his friends at the FD. Some I can't explain. Boys are funny.

[Yes. That is a real life 'bro'. A man wearing a bra. idk.]

maddie lou

The following conversation took place tonight at a family cookout. My little cousin Maddie and her friend Riley started flipping through my pictures on my cell phone.

Maddie: Look this picture of Copper. This is Momo's dog.

Maddie: Oh my gosh. Riley, look at Momo's belly. This is when she was pregnant.

Mo: Yeah, Maddie....remember how huge I got? That was crazy...wasn't it?

Maddie: Ya! Momo show Riley your stretch marks.

Mo: Um...No.

all four

Last night mom captured Colt's greatest attempt at crawling. Well, we're not going anywhere quite yet but we're on all four and that's a start! This balancing act lasts about 1 millisecond then he falls on his belly. But for that millisecond...he's really proud of himself.

Note: the timestamp on mom's pictures is ridiculously off. If that date were true Colt would have been a month old at my wedding. baby momma drama.

the grape jelly

Andy: What is this??

Mo: Grape jelly.

Andy: We were out. Why did you buy more?

Mo: Because we were out?

Andy: You know this means I'm going to have to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I've had a million peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in my life and that's why I'm fat. If there's no jelly...I don't make the sandwich.

Mo: So just pretend it's not there or don't make the sandwich.

Andy: You don't understand. If you put the jelly in the fridge...I will eat it. It's like putting crack in the fridge then telling a crack addict not to smoke it.

Mo: I'm blogging about this.

it's raining men

Colt took his first shower with Daddy-o. Do they look like each other or what?Shampooing the locks.Drowning.I married Andy for two reasons. 1. His charm and 2. His butt. He's got a good one doesn't he?Snuggle Bug and his momma.

anybody seen my husband?

I feel like having a pity party.

I miss my husband. Today was his day off. He had paramedic class from 8-12. Stopped by the grocery after that. Got home at 1:30. Got a call for partial overtime at 2:00. Left for work at 4:00. Won't see him until tomorrow at 9am. Another night I get to sleep by myself. Yay.

On top of 24 hr work shifts and class twice a week the grass is growing. Andy's Lawn Care to the rescue. He'll have to start mowing his lawn accounts every week. Know what that means? I'll never see him.

Next Wednesday they start getting the schedule ready for their clinical's. Clinical's are times Andy has to spend in the ER. Hands of stuff. Before he graduates next spring he has to put in an extra 500 hours of clinical time outside work and school and mowing. Know what that means? I'm never ever gonna see him.

My friend Laurie [a fellow fire fighters wife and my dear dear friend] figured out the nights that us ladies have to spend alone and it come out to 120 days a year we're alone. 120 days a year!

I want to be thankful that Andy has a job and I want to be thankful that I don't have to work because he does...but right now I'm just pissed that I had to say goodbye again...on his freaking day off...and do life on my own.

p.s. how many sticks to I have to pee on? it's been 46 days and I'm still peeing on sticks hopeing one will say positive. going in next Tuesday for blood work. cross your fingers I'm just all out of whack and not in the process of miscarrying.

i won't take it for granted

Sunday before lunch our whole family bowed our heads to pray together and I heard my fathers voice. I heard my Dad say the blessing, which he does every Holiday, but I also heard my Heavenly Fathers voice. As I listened to Dad pray God reminded me of the gift he gave my family 43 days ago. Dad was in the ICU recovering from brain surgery. It was a totally unexpected life threatening event. People say that we don't see miracles like we do back in the bible days...but God gave us a miracle that day. My Dad shouldn't be here. If he would have followed doctors orders he would not be here. His life was saved that day. My family witnessed a miracle.

As I closed my eyes to pray I thanked God that I got to hear my Daddy's voice say the blessing. We could have had a very very different Easter. Someone else would have said the blessing...and I'm sure we would have praying for God's strength to continue on without my Dad. We didn't have to pray that prayer.

I don't want to forget about what God has done for us. I don't want to forget about the gift of Jesus and the fact that even now days God shows himself to his people. I don't want to stop talking about it. I am so thankful and I promise you Lord I wont take it for granted.
Life is so sweet.

crickets/tarantulas

Would you rather...

a. Have 1000 tarantulas in your house while you sleep?

or

b. Have 5000 crickets in your bedroom while you sleep?

AND you have to sleep naked with only a sheet to cover you up.

AND you can't close/open your bedroom door.

Remember...crickets make noise and jump...tarantulas are big hairy spiders.

happy easter

We've been busy getting ready for our Easter Weekend Extravaganza. We have Easter with the Bredens today and the Michaels tomorrow. Mom bought Colt a really cute Easter outfit. It's blue and white plaid short-over-alls. My dilemma...do boys wear tights??? It's supposed to be chilly on Easter. Maybe knee highs? Poor Kid.

Here's wishing you all a Happy Easter. Enjoy this weekend with the love ones around and lets not forget the ultimate sacrifice that was made for us. Wanna hear something else really cool...He is coming back. He is coming back for you. Think we'll be able to blog in Heaven? Let's all have a giant blogosphere party when we get there. That might be the only time some of us meet...in heaven. Craziness.

Here is a picture that I stare at whenever I get a chance. My friend Shannon took it when she visited last week. This is her little boy Gavin and Colt. They're such sweeties. This might be my most favorite picture.

Happy Easter!

we're getting chessy

Colt is seven months old and has just learned how to smile for the camera.

Melts my heart.

Nothing can prepare you for the cuteness you're about to see...

it's a text message

What do you get when you have a Grandma who has a new cell phone that takes good pictures...but doesn't want to learn how to text?

You get this...Note: Grandpa was used as a prop for this message because of his good looks and his ability to hold a 3"x8" piece of paper in an upright position.

Aren't they cute??
