vooShoo

Today I had another appointment. Andy came because this week we were going to get the hear the heartbeat since I'm far enough along. I've been really excited for this appointment and typically when I work up an event in my mind time drags but I feel like my life has been in fast motion and it actually got here pretty quickly. I'll take it.

Earlier today when I was napping, well, actually just laying there with my eyes close because I kept getting text message after text message and I had to get back to my people. I'm popular. Anyhow...I felt a little pop in my tummy [and NO, Nic Chaput it wasn't gas] but I thought, WOW I think that was baby doing some kung fu moves. I felt Colt move at 16 weeks so maybe, MAYBE it was possible for me to feel it but it's still pretty early.

Flash forward to my appointment. I'm laying on the table and my doc is about to listen for heart beat with the doppler and I feel a few thumps. I'm thinking, it's baby! Of course I wouldn't tell Andy. He wouldn't believe me. When I mentioned to him earlier in the day that I thought I felt baby movement during my nap he kinda rolled his eyes and laughed it off. It always takes him longer than the average man to be convinced that I am ACTUALLY pregnant. He still thinks I haven't digested the 6cupcakes. Andy Honey...the cup cakes are gone, long gone...this is your child.

Doc begins to push the doppler around and then we hear it, VooShoo, VooShoo, VooShoo. Heartbeat! Oh ya! It continues...VooShoo, VooShoo THUMP! Doc goes, "Whoa you feel that? That was some fetal movement!" And I think...UH HUH! ALRIGHT! I'M RIGHT! ANDY'S WRONG! It was da baby. Just to know that my little dude or little chicka is happy just floating around doing some kung fu makes my heart so happy. I love the fact that I can join in those moments and get kicked around. It's the best feeling ever.

So my appointment went great and next month [which is only 4 weeks away!!!!!!!!!!!] is when we have our ultra sound and find out if it's a BOY or GIRL! So excited! Even though I look like a mammoth [minus the wooly part] my baby is only this big:

It's the lemon. Not the quarter.

big pappi

Happy Birthday Dad! What a year you've had! People can't write this stuff it's so crazy. I'm just so glad that you're alive and that God has great plans for you. I love you more than you know and I'm pretty sure you know my son does too. XOXO!

smells, smells everywhere.

I remember when I was pregnant with Colt certain smells turned my stomach. I had heard preggo's had super sensitive smellers and it is true but for some odd reason this time my smellers have been amplified to the 10th degree. Just about every smell makes my stomach turn and keep turning for hours. Here's what has made me just about vomit the last week.

  1. The computer room. The dog sleeps here and it smells like a dog. Every time I sit in there [in here. gagging] I open the window to get some freshness in.
  2. The air freshener in the computer room. This is one of those air fresheners that goes off automatically through out the day to assure a fresh smell at all times. You would think this would freshen the room but instead I hold my breath until it phases out. Sometimes I gag. I gag every time.
  3. Poopy diapers. Ya, poopy diapers always stink...but I can't change one without having to run to the other side of the room for a big gulp of fresh air, hold my breath, run back and wipe as much as I can. Then run back to get some more fresh air. If he is wiggly I can't run away which leads to my second option. Dry heave and occasionally vomit it my mouth. Colt thinks I'm hilarious.
  4. Andy's deodorant. Every night he re-deodorizes right before bed then he invites me over into his arm pit nook to snuggle. I want to be in the arms of my husband but the smell makes me have to settle for spooning every time.
  5. Dogs. All dogs and their smells make me sick.
  6. Dog food. Need I saw more? Little pebbles of grossness and I about vomit every time I smell it or even see dogs eating it.
  7. Hamburger. Today I made a pot of chili and about added some vomit to the pot.

Even thinking about the dog food one has made me feel icky, so I'm gonna stop talking about it. Kaley is coming over for chili and I promise there is no actual vomit in the chili.

Duck taping my nose shut.

sticky

Colt trying to get unstuck from the sticky sticker.
Didn't know I could love something so much.

it's the cupcakes

MO: [walks into computer room. Lifts shirt and reveals what seems to be the first sign of baby bump ]. Hey Babe. Check it out. This is crazy! I'm showing already. Don't you think? I mean, that has to be the baby. I haven't gained any weight and I mean...LOOK AT ME!

ANDY: [stares at the bulge coming from his wife's belly with a questionable look on his face. keeps staring. wheels turning in his head...trying to think of a way to tell his wife that he thinks she just looks fat instead of pregnant.] Um, I think it's just all those cupcakes.

MO: [laughs. good thing she was in a good mood.] I cannot believe you just said that.

You be the judge.
I'm only 14 weeks and can't believe that I'm already showing this much. I either a) puffed up from eating 6 cupcakes in a row or b) got impregnated by aliens and it's not really Andy's baby. Those are your choices...or maybe, SHOCKER, I'm showing because, OH YA, I'm pregnant.

buds

My friend Shannon's friend/sister-in-law Ann, who also happens to be my friend had her baby the other day. I know what it's like when your best friend goes into labor. You need to be there, like, 10 minutes ago. When Kaley went into labor I swear I wanted to be there before her. I don't know what it is about the birth of a child but you just GOTTA be there. It's that important.

Anyhow, I was really happy to be just chilling at home and we got to watch her little buddy boy Gavin. Him and Coley play great together and they just crack me up. They're really cute. Here they are watching an episode of Tigger & Pooh. I love that Colt has a coffee cup in his hand...it was early.

it was a conversation about poo

Facebook cracks me up. It's better than google. I posted my question yesterday about the diaper genie. To buy or not to buy? That was the question. Within a few hours I had 30 something comments. I'm never googling anything ever again. And of course, I haven't made up my mind yet…so feel free to share.

Mo Breden
What are you feelings about the diaper genie? I don't have one...but feel like I might want one. Moms, do tell.

Emily-Kate diaper gene is an excuse not to clean out your garbage can...poop storage. Kind of freaks me out knowing there is a sealed container of nasty diapers just sitting feet away from a baby crib.10 hours ago · Delete

Serena hahahaha Alex!9 hours ago · Delete

Ann I have the Baby Trend Diaper Champ. When I registered it for it I did alot of research and it got higher marks. I LOVE IT! You can use your own garbage bags in it so that saves money. We have never had a problem with smell. When you change the bag it is BAD, but that is about once a week. As Emerson gets bigger though it holds less diapers. So that sucks.9 hours ago · Delete

Ann Also, check craigslist. I got mine for $5 at a garage sale.9 hours ago · Delete

Jessica I have one upstairs and downstairs...love them. I think it helps with smell inside the house and especially once you put it in the garage trash.9 hours ago · Delete

Ross I only had 1 wish for the GREAT DIAPER GENIE! Please dont stink.... It did.. so did the inserts! go with the Diaper champ.. it's a lot better.. take it from the guy who changes them!9 hours ago · Delete

Kaley Love. Keeps smell away. Convenient, too. 9 hours ago · Delete

Melissa you have over 13 comments on a diaper genie that is hilarious! All I have to say about the subject is POOP! :)9 hours ago · Delete

Mandy Well I have one, but considering my baby's not here yet, I can't testify to their greatness. It just seems like it's a way better option than putting stinking diapers in the regular trash can.8 hours ago · Delete

Allison LOVE it soo def get it :)8 hours ago · Delete

Ross Good luck mandy.. and the cutter.. well that doesnt work....8 hours ago · Delete

Ashley i hated it!!! it made the whole room smell like diapers!!! and yes I have the new one that is "smell free"! Whatever! I just take the diapers to the normal trash and poops outside trash. It was a waste of money for us. But most people I know love them! Maybe mine is broken! lol8 hours ago · Delete

Mo Breden My method now...Martins bag. All poopy diapers go in a green smelly diaper bag [sometimes two of them]. The terribly smelly ones goes straight out side. Then I fill up the Martins bag. Which is like a day or two. AND even still...Colt's room stinks. But everything stinks to me these days. I can smell a mildewed dish rag from a mile away.8 hours ago · Delete

Cammie I had one and after about 3 months I could not stand it anymore. I found that buying the scented throw away bags worked great and I popped them in the garage outside.8 hours ago · Delete

Aimee I'm a nanny... and I'm telling you this kid can stink up a whole house the instant he goes #2. I love the diaper genie, the sooner it goes in there the better!8 hours ago · Delete

Serena POOP!!!! HAHAHAHA Missy,hahahahaha!8 hours ago · Delete

Cindy We had (have) one, but we've switched to just using the baking soda bags and putting in trash - diaper dekor thing would smell on and off7 hours ago · Delete

Kristin NO NOT WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!put it in the trash! way easier, less smelling! waste of money6 hours ago · Delete

Serena hahaha what does Andy like?3 hours ago · Delete

Serena Ohh and poo poo!3 hours ago · Delete

Melissa I never had one so I cannot give an honest opinion BUT I can say I bought the cheap-o 100 bags for 1.99 scented diaper bags- I then put them in the trash outside which is just outside your door. I just couldn't get past having that bag of 'stuff' in the house.3 hours ago · span>Delete

Tricia I never put poopy diapers in them...only pee...then it never got real stinky.2 hours ago · Delete

stretch armstrong?

I really have no clue.

r2d2

I mean h1n1 ain't got nothing on me.
My son and my husband on the other hand...

Let's have some fun and knock some sense into my husband. MmmK?

Reasons Why Andy should get the shot:
  1. He works in an E.R and in an ambulance multiple times a week...
  2. Just last week he came home and said this, "Over half of the ER was packed with sick people with flu like symptoms and in the first few hours a few were diagnosed with h1n1".
  3. He has a young son at home who is susceptible to catching it...
  4. He has a pregnant wife who is ALSO susceptible to catching it...
  5. He's not superman...
I'm not a super freakish type of person who lives in fear of the h1n1, but I'm pregnant and have a baby at homes already so I figured it was smart to take precautions. AND STILL...Andy thinks he won't get it or bring it home with him. I'm going to take Colt next week to get his. So let make Andy feel stupid for playing with fire. Shall we?

He's watched too many episodes of Smallville.

laurie

Laurie is one of my best friends. We became friends through our husbands who just happen to be hot fire fighters. It was sort of like a friendship that just made sense. It helped being able to relate with the fears that come with our husbands professions and the lonely boring nights...[which we sometimes choose to spend together, eating skinny cow ice cream sandwiches and yelling at the Biggest Looser contestants through my T.V. screen]. She typically comes to my house straight from a fitness club where she teaches spinning classes...I usually come from the kitchen where I've just finished dinner :)I remember one day Andy came home from the work a few years ago and share the 'secret news'...Lane and Laurie are trying. A few months later Andy and I were chatting and thought that maybe we should start trying to. Lane and Laurie put the idea in our heads and we felt like the time was right. A month later I was staring a pink plus sign right back in the face. We were pregnant! I was excited and so was Laurie.

Sometime in August while on Facebook I saw something she posted on Lane's wall, it said: 3 years today...love you. We had talked earlier in the day and she told me it was their 3 year Anniversary [if that's what you want to call it] of trying for a baby and having no luck. It was a bitter sweet moment for me. My friend was hitting a milestone she wish she wouldn't have hit and I had just found out I was pregnant with our second child. Apart of me felt a little guilty or sad...not sure which one. I've gotten pregnant twice while Laurie is still trying for her first. It wasn't supposed to happen that way it just did. So, I cried and prayed some more.

Over the years I've never prayed for a friend harder than I've prayed for Laurie. I have never wanted something so bad for a friend, like I want a baby for Laurie. I've talked with her during the sad times when a procedure failed, or the pregnancy test was another negative. I've tried to give her the encouraging words she needed to hear that day and like I said, I've prayed. But really, through all of this, she has inspired me.

She believes that the Lord has a plan for her and their family. She's said before, I don't know how people would go down this road with out having faith. I'm so glad after all this she trusts in God more than ever that in his timing, and his timing alone...she'll have her baby. I feel it coming...I really do!

Just a few days ago I got the low down on their next adventure. In-vitro. I told her she should start a blog. I truly feel that people could either a) draw strength from their story or b) lend her all sorts of advice & encouragement. I know for a FACT that she's not in this journey alone. I've been to many a blogs of woman on the same path. And really, even if you're not on the same path exactly you should still go to her blog and send her some love. She's a doll. Enter HERE. She took her first in-vitro shot tonight. I texted her to see how they went...she replied, the needle was a little dull, but not too bad! Gotta love her! Tower of strength, I'm telling ya!

Anyhow, in writing this I'm realizing the amazing people I have in my life. Laurie being one of them. I'm uplifted and challenged by them on a regular basis. God's put me smack dab in the middle of their lives and I just pray that I can be a blessing to them like they've been to me. I just wanna be a good friend.

da patch

The patch was fun this year.
Flippin cold, but fun!

Colt had cried & whined almost the entire 3 days previous to our trip to the patch so I was nervous that we would have a not-so-great time. BUT, luckily the color orange captivated him & he even smiled a few times. I'll be so happy when all his teeth are in. His K9-pointy-vampireish teeth have been killers to break through.

Here are a few last year compared to this year shots from the patch... thought they were cute :) AND a slide show. TA DA.
