milestones

After being a slow learner and becoming completely happy with just sittin' there like a bump on a log, Molly finally started rolling at about 10 months old...and as of today, we can now add walking to her list of really neat tricks.

I'm watching Molly walk along the blurry edge of baby and toddler.  The milestones of her life are so awesome to see but in a quick second, like sand falling from between my fingers...I feel her growing up.

Oh the ways I love this little girl...

March 27, 2011

lately...

  1. We're gearing up for Molly's 1st birthday.  I cannot believe it's almost that time.  She's beautiful and happy and everything I love.
  2. I signed up for a 1/2 marathon.  It's paid for and everything. GULP!  I've been running 4x's a week with my running partner Sarah.  I CANNOT believe that I'm doing this but I'm pretty proud of myself.  Yesterday I ran 5 miles for the first time ever and it didn't even suck that bad.  I just keep moving my feet and eventually it's over with...that's how I get through it. ha!  Andy is registered to run the marathon that same race.  He's never ran a full marathon before. I'm so excited for him.  Yesterday he ran a 1/2 marathon around town and he said it felt great.  Look at us! We're runners!
  3. Colt is almost potty trained.  This makes me realllllllllly happy.  After going cold turkey on the diapers and just making him be in underwear he's catching on really well.  We have accidents still here and there but in general he goes in the potty.  I'm so proud of my little man!  He gets 1 jellybean when he goes peepee and 2 jellybeans when he goes #2.  He always reminds me 'Mom, poo potty...2 beans. 2 beans.'  Just making sure I don't jip him of those jellybeans.  I love my little boy.  He's growing up and I'm really proud of him.
  4. After 4 years...we've decided, Copper's getting knocked up.  NO MORE DOGGIE PERIODS!  Andy has always wanted to breed her and so we're going for it.  I'll tell ya what though, someones gonna be crying when that last puppy get sold and that somebody is me!
  5. We're healthy, happy and blessed.

he knows me

This morning I started looking at baby pictures of Colt.  Every time I do that I just can't believe how fast it's gone and how hard sometimes it is to remember the curves of his plump newborn face.  He was so small!

I tried really hard to breath in every moment of when he was a newborn.  It seems so long ago.  I'd like to relive on of those days again.

I'm reminiscing, getting teary and then I hear Colt saying my name from his room.  He had just woken up.  I go in there and he's so happy to see me, as always.  Typically I pick him up and he runs off to the kitchen for food or to go find Copper but today the first thing he said was, Mama, Hold me?

I picked him up and he sat on my hip just staring me in the face with a sweet smile on.  Then he wiggled his little body around so that I could cradle him in my arms.  And with his head tucked in close to my elbow, resting on my chest and his legs dangling down to my knees...he rested there while I rocked him and for a second I saw my newborn baby boy in his toddler face.

I can't relive September 08 but today God created a moment for me that was the next best thing.
He knows me.

so much to say!

Ya know how I was gonna blog during nap time...eh, ya that didn't happen. So here I sit absolutely forcing myself to not do the other 20 things I should probably be doing and blog instead. How does that happen? No matter what, there is always something I should be doing. But for now I'm going to blog and stare at the toys that need picked up, the clean clothes in the basket that need folded and put away, the dishes in the sink and the list goes on. Seriously driving me a little crazy looking at this mess but oh well. Ok, I'm done.

Now I'm going to vomit my thoughts and try to make it to bed in 30 minutes :)

  • debt. As of December 1st 2010 we are debt free! We said goodbye to the payments for a Ford, a Honda, a Jeep and a furnace totally to $33,000 dollars which we paid off in 2.5 years.  That included a few road bumps along the way too...1) Colt 2) I quit my full time job & my part time job to stay home and 3) Molly. Not that they are road bumps in our life just things that set us back a tad financially. We are really proud of ourselves. I love that we honored the money that God put into our life and I pray that from it we're able to live a financially easy life and give generously as we go. It feels realllly cool and I must say I think I've fallen more in love with my Andy on this journey. It's been hard, we had to pinch penny's and skip out on fun times and vacations but it's over with now and we're better for it. The one thing I heard Dave Ramsey say that stuck with me was, Adults devise a plan and see it through. Children do what feels good. That really put things in perspective and helped me stay focused. If you want to know how we made it happen go here and do this. You won't regret it!
  • rollin' rollin'. Molly finally started to roll. At her 6 month appointment she was still totally content just laying there. She finally started to roll but not without help from Colt. Whenever he saw me lay the blanket on the living room floor he would say MOLLY? Roll??...I'd lay her down and he'd grab her shirt and pull/push her until she flipped over :) Such a helper. I feel like she will be a tad slower in all the physical milestones. She just wants to sit on the floor play with a Dolly or a toy and jibberjabber :)
  • the grinch. I've watched this movie a dillion times in the last 3 weeks. I say every time how perfect this character is for Jim Carey to play and I'm in awe of what an amazing actor he is. This also is a hilarious movie. Every time I watch it I find something else in it that is hilarious. I also love the moral of the story. I love Max the dog. I love when Cindy Lou Who sings Where Are You Christmas in her room before bed that one night and hits that high note at the very end...she's just so sweet.  I want to be a Who.
  • ibs. I figured we'd close the book on my whole intestinal/stomach ache/poop problems. After all those tests and everything I went through the doctors told me I have IBS. I feel like I could have figured that out. I've cut the majority of wheat out of my diet and it does help. I haven't had a stomach ache in months which is amazing. Now, when I cheat with wheat and eat it I vomit  and have terrible diarrhea instead. haha! Not all the time, just sometimes. Whatever. TMI. Anyways. Let's just say Lord help me when I'm 80 and naturally start to loose control of my bms. AND I just took it another step farter...I mean farther. I mean, POOP!
  • 11:10pm I was supposed to go to bed ten minutes ago.
  • snow. snow. snow. It's been snowing like crazy here and I for one, flipping love it. The more snow the merrier. It's beautiful. It's quiet. It bring a peace to my soul. You can hit someone in the face with it if you're mad...and you can eat it if you're hungry. It's amazing. Colt, Andy and Copper think so too...
  • baby jesus. Christmas morning is almost here and I'm going to make a birthday cake for baby Jesus. Andy thinks I'm crazy. Maybe I won't ALWAYS make baby Jesus a birthday cake but it will help my 2 year old get the reason this day is so special...and WHO doesn't like cake??? [besides my irritable bowl.]
I'm glad I got that off my chest :)

pjs and puke noises

Today I'm thankful.

In my 5 year forecast I see alarm clocks, appointments,  preschool/school,  meetings, projects and endless errand running but today I love just where I'm at.

I'm thankful for being able to wake up whenever my kids decide it's morning [9am today].  To stay in our pj's all day if we want.  To laugh uncontrollably to Colt reenacting his sick day the other day,  which consisted of us sitting on the couch and him making really loud, gyrating puke noises.  Molly even laughed.  If I worked I might not have to time to sit and enjoy those moments [Thanks babe].
I'm thankful for this very moment I'm living.
Wanted to write it down before I forgot the way I feel.
That is all.

my favorite picture thus far

Molly made this face right after I told her how pretty she was for the 15th time that day.  Oh how I love her!

it's a bed for big boys

Yesterday I had a bug up my butt to re-arrange the rugs in the house, move some pieces of furniture and change Colt's crib into a big boy bed. I'm not quite sure what possessed me to want to move Colt's bed around. He hadn't ever fallen out of his crib. One time while I was drying my hair I could see into his room in the reflection of my bathroom mirror and he was straddling the side of his bed like a Clydesdale horse. I snapped at him and he never did it again. So I know he's got the muscles and the height to get out...what he lacks is the balls.

I convinced young Andrew to please get out his tools and change his son's bed around. He obeyed...even though I could tell what he was thinking by the random glaces he was giving me...You're totally putting the cart before the horse here. You're also totally getting up all night with him if this backfires because after all...It was your idea, Woman. It's amazing after 3.5 years of pure marital bliss all it takes is one glance from the hubs and I can piece together 3 or 4 sentences. Sometimes we don't even need to talk. Our eyebrows do the work for us.

Bedtime came around. We said prayers, tucked Colt in like usual and started to walk away. I wish I had a picture to capture his face. It was the most adorable/break your heart kind of face. His bottom lip started to pucker out as I walked out and he made a face like...Don't leave me Mom. This is weird. I'm kinda scared.

I closed the door and he started to cry. I then heard him trying to open the door. A few seconds later the cry turned into some pretty seriously wailing. I heard the closet door. I heard him dump his toys. Five minutes later, he kicked it up a notch. Boy oh Boy was he putting up a fight. He does this funny thing lately when he's in trouble or when he's not wanting to nap. He'll call out for Betty [his great grandma, who lives across town]. Does he think she's magically appeared to save him for the wrath that is about to strike down upon him via Mean Mommy? I guess so. It makes me laugh though...Bebee! Bebeeeeeee!

Andy finally goes in about ten minutes later and tries to calm him down. Five minutes go by and all I hear is Colt still crying, but now he's crying for Betty and me. Apparently Betty needs back up.

I go in. Sit on the edge of his bed while he cries at the door and calmly tell him...It's going to be okay. We're going to bed. No other options. I'm making your mind up for you since you seem to be so very confused. He eventually lays down. I lay with him, hoping I don't break the bed. I tested that theory a few weeks ago by actually crawling into his crib with him one morning and hanging out in there for a bit. It didn't break then and I've lost a few since then so I figured I was golden.

Finally, after about 10 minutes of me talking him into a sleepy haze and him getting over his hiccups from his cry fest, I tell him I'm leaving now...I love him...Jesus loves him...Peace out little man. He falls asleep. Victory is mine.

So this morning, after last night, I wasn't really looking forward to nap time. I put him down, and he practically chased me out of the room. I couldn't shut the door fast enough. He cried [not as hard as last night] for about 5 minutes and then a hush fell over the house. I waited a while longer before I checked on him and he'd fallen asleep on his toy box [which is a really soft fabric ottoman, so I was ok with it]. About 20 minutes later he falls off the ottoman, starts crying and that was the end of nap time.

I did put him down for a 2nd nap this afternoon since the first one suuuucked and he only cried for 1-2 minutes then slept for 1.5 hours...in his bed! I was proud of his progress.

Tonight I was preparing for another meltdown or 2. Or 3. Or 4...but wouldn't ya know it after we did our routine and I tucked him in I didn't hear ONE PEEP!! Not ONE SINGLE PEEP!!!

That's a big change! I'm really proud of him for being a good transitioner. Although this doesn't make me want to start potty training any sooner :)

I kinda of feel like since he'll be the big #2 in just a few weeks that all these things [ie. potty training, big boy bed, learning to ride a bike...] need to be done soon. But really, he's still just a little nugget. Still really young. I mean, I compare him all day long to my 4 month old, when really, he's still a baby himself. I need to take a chill pill...some call it Xanax. Anyone care to share? Caring is sharing.

i be a lazy potty mommy.

Colt got a potty.  He's gone in it a few times but won't tell me has to go.  After he's pooped or pee'd in his diaper and I ask him what happened, he'll say 'Poo! Potty?'  Clearly, he knows where it's supposed to go.  We're just not getting there.

I've come to the conclusion that I'm a lazy potty mommy.  I think my son is fully capable of learning to go in the potty and even alert me when he needs to go.  He has always liked to figure things out and has generally been a fast learner.  There have been times when I catch him starting to poop his pants.  A good mother would alert their child, spring to their feet, run to bathroom [toddler in hand] and assist in the poo fest.  I, on the other hand kinda don't care.  With Molly my hands are typically full and it's so much work.

I sound very lazy and very dramatic here, but to start potty training you have to FULLY engaged, mentally and physically.  I'm just not there yet.  Granted, I can promise you Colt will be potty trained by the time he reaches kindergarten...I'm just not on the band wagon yet.  You'd think having to purchase Size 6 and Size 2 diapers every time I go to Babies R Us would be getting old, and believe me it is. My pocketbook isn't a fan either.  I just said pocketbook...That's a weird word. Pocketbook? Anyhow...Hello, ADD.

My plan for potty training is this...

Take him to my grandparents house for a week and ask them to please, pretty please,  potty train my son.  He really likes his Pat and Papa.  I feel like he would listen to them better than me.  Ahhhh, if only it were that easy...

No, really,  I'm going to wait for Andy to be home for a few days in a row and then his diapers are disappearing.  Call me crazy.  I just think Colt won't like pooing/peeing in real undies.  He'll run around naked for a few days.  Whiz all over the house I'm sure and hopefully he'll get the hang of it somehow.

Until then...he can poop in his diaper.  It's easier to change a diaper than it is to follow through with potty training.  I sound like a super lazy mom!  Anyone else feel me though?

[Before I started typing this post I was weeding with Andy in the front yard and kept blacking out.  He instructed me to come sit down for a while and drink some water.  And he's a paramedic now, so I do exactly what he says.  Anyhow, I'm still kinda dizzy so this post may make no sense at'll...there fore I apologize if you just wasted you're time.]

would you like some chips with your Nemo?

Last night Dad was working so Andy, Colt and I took dinner over to Moms. We made fish and had a big salad. Yum and Yumm. Colt loves fish and salad. The child pretty much eats anything I put in front of him. I like to make sure he tries everything we eat too...just so he doesn't become a little pansy and only wants to eat cheese sticks and animal crackers. Not that that's ever happened. [ahem].

While I was making up his plate this conversation took place:
Mo: Colt look! Yummy fish. It's Nemo...take a bite.
Mom: Why ya gotta tell him it's Nemo?
Mo: Fine. Here Colt, eat Dory. HA!
Mom: Might as well tell him it's Shrek.
Mo: Why would I tell him he's eating an ogre?
Mom: He doesn't know the difference...either way he's eating a character.
[Andy points at Colt's bowl of chicken and veg. noodle soup]
Andy: Look Colt! Eat some of your Veggie Tale friends.

It was really funny. [crickets]
Maybe you had to be there.

A few minutes later Colt decided that eating dinner is much more delicious if he's sitting on my lap and eating off my plate...so we shared. I will sacrifice my lap if it means he'll eat some good food. Often times he's too busy to want to sit down and finish a meal.

He was eating like a champ, being adorable and enjoying my food when all of the sudden I felt something dripping on my foot. I was trying really hard to think what could be dripping on my foot?! Nothing had spilled. No black rain cloud over me. There was only one possible solution left. I think homeboys peeing on me!!!

Apparently, when a diaper becomes so completely full of urine it will trickle out the side of the diaper and land on whatever happens to be underneath, like my foot. I know, I know, go ahead and form your opinions of me...the kids diaper was so full pee came a pour out like water from a watering can. Horrible mother of the year award...coming right up! Actually, it was pretty funny. Andy especially liked the fact that I called Colt homeboy.

I just looked up the definition of homeboy and it's a fellow gang member. It totally fits my son. He's straight gansta.

I'm not exactly sure what the moral of this blog is. Don't tell your kid he's eating his favorite movie character? Or don't be a bum, change your kids diaper. Truth be told, you should probably do the opposite of everything I do and your child will be normal.

did ya miss me?

Are you guys still there? I'm blogging! I feel accomplished. Life is crazy. Crazy good...crazy nuts...crazy-colt-threw-a-breast-pad-and-hit-me-in-the-face-this-morning. There have been so many days I'll start a new post and then laugh at myself realizing that I don't have time because someone is running with scissors or someone is crying for my boob. You know, mommy things.

Andy went back to work today. He'd been off for the last month. It was so great. I can never get enough of that guy. He is superhubby...supperdaddy...superhottie...he's awesome. I wasn't ready for him to go back to work. He on the other hand was extremely ready to go back to work. Colt is...how should I put it...testy. He is one testy little son of a gun. Loving his new found independence and driving us slightly crazy along the way. I'm constantly saying...
'Please don't...Mommy said no no.'
'Colt, let's be a good boy.'
'Did you hear me????'
'Don't kiss Copper on the lips! Yucky!'
'Absolutly NOT!'
'NAUGHTY!!!'

All the while he pretty much does what he wants. I'm still trying different methods, trying to figure out what works for us. Hopefully I'll 'find' it soon.

He love his baby sister though. He's always running up and asking to hold her. His new thing is he wants to burp her. So every time he asks I toss a burp cloth on his shoulder and help him hold her up while he pats her back. I've decided that we're not going to treat Molly like an off limits china doll. So...I let him hold her whenever he wants. He will run over to where she's is while crying and he'll stick a paci in her mouth :) A lot of times when I'm holding her he'll go grab his blankie and come sit on my other leg and lay his head right next to his sister. Those moments make up for all the testy ones. Melts my heart. He's still just a little laddy. Such a sweetheart.

Life is good though. I'm not exactly sure how to balance babies, bath times, dishes, laundry, dog, dinner and somewhere in there I'd like to shower. There have been a handful of days I question my mommying ability. Today has been my best day, alone thus far. I managed to get them both fed, loved and bathed. That was a tiny baby step in the right direction. I can do it.

I'm so absolutely blessed to have such great family too. Just one little whisper or cry of desperation and my family has been there to help lighten the load while I adjust and/or get a few minutes for myself. I've realize more than ever lately is to accept help. I'm set in my ways, in my children's schedule...but I've learned to let go a bit and take all the help I can get. I'm really blessed.

With Andy back to work and me getting into my old schedule with my kids I'm thinking I'll be able to jump back on the blog wagon. I really do miss writing.

Here's a few things that have made me laugh today:
-Colt eating 1/2 a tube of chap stick...
-Colt throwing a breast pad at my face...
-Colt putting a breast pad on his sisters head, looked like a yamaka...
-Colt and my mom chasing each other on toddler scooters [she fit!]...
-Colt putting my breast pumps on his chest and pretending to pump...
-Colt trying to bite my toe while taking a bubble bath...

Laughing keeps me sane :)

one quarter of a century.

I turn 25 today.
In my head I'm 23.
Sometimes when people ask me I accidentally say 23.

I feel kinda old. I mean, 25?? You're closer to 30 than you are to your teens. I'm almost 30. BAH! But on the other hand I've accomplished a lot by 25. I mean, I popped two kids out by 25. That a great feat.

Speaking of my kids...I love them so much. Every birthday that passes I feel like my life has gotten better. I keep wondering when all the goodness is going to stop but it just keeps coming. Thank you Lord!
I love my life.

April 27, 2010

i've got 15 minutes before the baby needs fed!

Hello!  Oh how I want to blog!  Really, I get a free five minutes, open up my 'Labor Story' draft that I started last week,  start typing and someone poops, or barfs or grabs the dogs tail,  starts running the opposite direction, the dog freaks out and that 'someone' gets hurt.  That someone isn't Andy, or Molly, or Me...it's Colt.  Although I am often running the opposite direction of the dog just to get away from her.  I'm mean.

Anyhow, just wanted to let you know life is pretty spectacular.  Molly is doing awesome.  She's been sleeping from midnight until 10am and only getting up once to eat! She eats well. Sleeps well. Poops really well.  We are blessed to have another beautiful, happy, relatively cooperative baby.  God is good!

I'm feeling great!  I've healed up really quickly and am feeling myself.  Allergies have been kicking my butt but [I just said 'butt but'] I'm a fan of Claritin D.  Also, get this...I gained 20 lbs with Molly and as of this morning I've lost 21 lbs! Do the math baby!  It's all gone and then some. I'm going to breastfeed my way into a size 6.  Not really, but right now I think I could.  I'm the incredible shrinking woman.

There are so many pictures and videos I want to share just really can't find the time.  I'm sort of getting worried my blog will get cobwebs.  Call me if you can't wait until my next blog...actually don't because I never answer and half the time it's on vibrate which I later find in someones closet or tucked away in the couch.  One day I'll figure out how to do it all.

not so funny timing

Yesterday I mentioned how Colt is getting slap happy. Sometimes he thinks it's a funny thing to do but usually he's does it just to beat you up. Every once in a while when I pick him up to go change his diaper he holds his hand out in front of my face like...I'm gonna slap ya mom, ya better let me run around with poop in my pants OR ELSE!

He also completely looses it every time I change his diaper. I mean, LOOSES IT! He'll immediately flip around on his changing table, slapping, screaming, crying, acting like I'm cutting off a finger. I then flip him back around and try to talk in a calm voice over the screaming. Quite the patience tester.

Yesterday I had to pin his chest down with my forearm while I tried to take his pants off and get a new diaper out. Then I started to sweat and get pissed. I started to raise my voice, then after a few more minutes of this madness I was screaming and he was screaming back. We were both totally out of control. Well, I was still in control, but I've never had to act like a barbarian. I eventually took him off his table and half body slammed him against the floor. He started kicked my belly so I pinned his legs down and I think after our 5 minute fight [I'm NOT kidding, 5 minutes] he started to loose strength and eventually stopped.

In the midst of world war III, I thought about just putting him in his crib and walking away or just letting him win and letting him go run and play. I wanted him to obey, not win. I eventually got the diaper on the kid but I'm no Super parent. I think it's clear that cool-as-a-cucumber-Mo has no clue what she's doing.

Last night I got in bed and just bawled at my crappy day. Andy was mowing & working on his mowers all day while inside I didn't even have control of my own child. For the first time last night I totally questioned whether or not I can raise two kids? This temper tantrum stuff Colt is starting up is coming at the completely wrong time. I mean, really? Right before I have a newborn he kicks in with this crap?

I need a book. Anyone have a book they've read on toddler-ing?

Today at diaper change time I'm going to try all new things. Bribing, singing, wearing a mask and acting like an idiot...anything else I haven't tried, I'll try.

Babies are easy.
Toddlers are more confusing than men.

March 30, 2010

living the good ol' days

Once upon a time it was just you and me, Coley...

March 25, 2010

so much to say, so much to say.

Every time I sit down as of late I either want someone to rub my feet or I want to close my eyes...blogging hasn't made it to the top of the list. This is me pushing through my foggy haze. Are you proud of me? Please say Yes. Don't make me cry.

I've got some cute videos of Colt I was going to blog about. Some stories from his 1st ever puke session. Pictures of my baby belly. A new 'slide' video from our trip to the park this spring...far less traumatic than his first experience on the slide. I also made some cute hospital onesies for Molly and I crocheted a hat to match. All of these things I want to share but can't keep my eyes open enough to do so. Maybe one day I'll get to it.

Yesterday was my 35.5 week appointment.  I measured at 37 weeks. I also was, surprisingly, 80% effaced and 2cms dilated. When my doc said that I was like WHOA. Okay, this could happen, like SOON. Then I got home and freaked out because we don't have her car seat ready...All her clothes have tags on them still...I don't have any Dreft...What's she going to wear home from the hospital?...Who is going to stay with Colt while I'm in hospital...We don't have any pink blankets, she'll be wrapped in blue for the rest of her life...Do I have plans for the dog?...Is someone going to video/tape take pictures for us...Is Andy's phone equip to blog from the hospital? BAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I'M HAVING A BABY and I'm not prepared. It's amazing how much more relaxed you are with the second baby.

Andy laughed at me yesterday as I was barking out my Molly To-Do list...then he said something that made a lot of sense, Mo, just get out a piece of paper and write it all down before you forget. Smart man! I was sitting and was so tired I couldn't move so I said I'd make my to-do list when I got up...AND when I did, I of course forgot. So the last paragraph I wrote is officially my to-do list. Let it be written.

So, I think it's safe to say the baby is coming. I have an ultrasound scheduled for next Thursday to see how big the baby has gotten. If she's packing on the pounds I'm pretty sure they'll schedule an induction. A matter of weeks folks and I'll be holding my baby girl. I really want to see her face.

Last night I was holding a pink stuffed elephant Molly's gotten as a gift and I mentioned how good the elephant's nose would be for Molly to teethe on. Colt had a ducky and when he was teething he would chew on the ducks quacker. It would get so slobbery and gross but he loved it and I washed it, it was just cute. So when I mentioned how the pink elephant would be a good chewie for Molly it made me start to cry then Andy gave me 'the look'. 'The look", is something I get often lately...this 'look' is a combination of him saying 'Aww, honey' and 'Here we go again'...typically after the look he says, "Don't get started! Be happy!" TELLING SOMEONE TO BE HAPPY DOESN'T MAKE THEM HAPPY. He be crazy sometimes.

Then I started to cry more because I had heartburn and we didn't have any Zantac and Kaley told me I could take Zantac and we don't have any money and my back hurts and I have a head ache and Colt is so grown up and I don't want you to go to work tomorrow and I'm hungry. See how that works? That's called a meltdown ladies and gents. I'm perfecting them.

Hopefully my baby will come soon but I still have more than 4 weeks left until my due date so I'm trying not to get too pumped up. Well, I just looked up from the computer and Colt threw an entire load of folded clothes off the ottoman and all over the floor, better go before he throws them down the basement stairs or dips them in the dog's water bowl.
Have a glorious day my friends.

February 16, 2010

a play by play

Get up and get ready for OB appointment.
Get Colt up and dressed.
Eat breakfast.
Load the diaper bag.
Let the dog out.
Load the car.
Put Colt in car seat.
Go to put Copper in her Kennel.
Head explodes as she runs away and barfs all over my house.
Clean up dog barf.
Almost barf myself.
Get in car & realize I have our new double stroller in the back instead of single stroller.
Switch strollers and knock over the snow blower trying to make room in garage.
Fall against my dirty car in my white coat.
Consider crying.
Consider swearing.
Drive to Dr's office [running 10 minutes late now].
Arrive to my OB, check myself in.
Notice that everyone and their mother made an OB appointment for today.
Find a spot to sit and Colt starts getting antsy.
Distract him with some saltines & apple juice.
Colt pours apple juice all over himself.

He finds a pen and draws all over himself.
Clean him up, then he starts to poop.
Reach for the wipes & a diaper.
Realize there are no diapers in my bag.
Consider crying.
Consider barfing.
Start sweating.
Realize we've been waiting for 40 minutes.
Ask front desk how much longer...I'm told we're next.
Three more people get called before we do.
Put Colt in stroller and walk in circles until we get called [1hr, 10mins later].
See Dr. & get measured. Hear heartbeat. Baby girl is happy and growing.

howdy

Who's that kid standing in my living room???
Ahhh, yes, it's my baby :(
SO GROWN!
And man! Look at the head!
He takes after his momma.

Anywho, we've been busy around here lately. As my Valentines day gift from Andy he took a week off work! He's in the last sprint of Paramedic school. He graduates April 4th so he's been going, going, going trying to get all of his ER time in at the hospital and making sure he's got enough patients from his time on the Ambulance.

Not only did he need a break in the middle of the madness, but I needed my husband. Let's just face it, I can pretty much cry on cue these days and all I would have to do is think of how much longer until I see him next and instant tears. Last week he was only home two nights. CRAZY! Sometimes I wonder if Colt gets sick of me???? Luckily he can't talk yet and I don't have to hear the answer to that question.

We've had a great week. Lots of family time. Lots of shared meals. Lots of tickle attacks and fires in our fireplace. I love my family. I can't wait to have our old everyday routine back. He goes back to work on Wednesday and then I pretty much won't see him again until he's done with school but then Molly will be here and he gets another 3 weeks vacation when she arrives. I see the light people!!

Molly is doing great too. She's moving a ton, getting big and testing the thread strength on my shirts...luckily most are stretchy. I'm 30 weeks now which means she's practically here. I'm so extremely ready for nice weather too. I want to just walk around the block and not have snot freeze to my face. That would be nice. Until then I'm gonna start walking on a treadmill and on Wednesday Chelssie, Kaley, myself and our clan o' kids are going to walk the mall. Which is funny cause I used to think that mall walkers were weird.

Well well well, how the turntables...have turned.
Thank you Michael Scott.

you look silly

Colt has been throwing [or trying to throw] temper tantrums lately. When I grab his hand to lead him out of my bedroom or try to remove him from a situation he doesn't want to be removed from he'll do the ol' lazy bones and pretend he can't walk. Typically tears follow and he becomes a hot mess.

Instead of trying to yank him up off the floor by his arms or get mad...I just let him slide into a puddle on the floor. Then I say, "Colt, look at Mommy. You look silly. This isn't working so can we go now?" And I don't know what it is, but he stops crying and is like, Man, I do look silly.

I take his hand, pull him back up on his feet, and we walk out of the room together...his wet noodle body has magically been healed and off we go.

I'm sure this won't always work, the whole reasoning with a child thing but for now I'm thankful it does, and it saves my larger-than-life pregnant body from bending over and man handling a 30lb toddler.

He's also learned to run as fast as he can at naptime to the far, back corner of his monster tent because it's a pain for me to waddle back there on my hands and knees, pick him up, and carry him out...so instead I grab his foot and yank him from the safty of his monster home.

You can't always depend on words ;)
