breakaway

After letting the dog up from her kennel downstairs the gate was open for a few seconds. When I walked back to shut it Colt had made his prison break.

He's a fast little motor scooter.

51 years

Happy Anniversary Grams and Gramps!
Thank you for being an amazing example of what love looks like.
I LOVE YOU!

We're a very soft spoken, reserved type of family. Can you tell?

For Colt's Christmas Eve outfit we got him this really cute hat. We've been calling it a 'newspaper boy hat'. Every time we tried it on him Andy would yell 'News paepa's fo sale!' and then Colt would come running and rip it off.

He likes to wear hats but more in the form of bowls, cups, you know, things that aren't hats! Luckily for me all the stars must have been aligned on Christmas Eve because he wore his hat! I was so proud.

christmas morn 09

We had a great Christmas this year. Santa came on Christmas Eve morning since Daddy worked Christmas Day. Did you know how flexible Santa is? You can make him come whatever day you want! It's fantastic. No, to be honest we tried to make Christmas fun but not so much about tons of presents and tons of Santa. We've decided in our family that we'll do three gifts for the kiddies [just like Jesus got on the night he was born, via the three wise men] and then we said we'd do one gift from Santa and this year Santa filled his stocking with a harmonica. Oh ya!

Here is our Christmas Tree. I was so busy with my 3 part-part-time jobs the last few weeks before Christmas that when you put them all together it really felt like a part-time job so my Christmas decorating never really got finished how I liked...nevertheless it was still pretty.

My garland. Excuse the messy house. It was Christmas [eve] morning...houses are supposed to be messy.
The mantle. I decided this year I was going to make my own artwork with words/scriptures from the nativity scene but I never finished. If you look in front of that giant present on the mantle you can see one of the three I was in the process of making. I only finished one and just yesterday packed all the unfinished artwork up for next years inspiration...that's if my children [yes, plural] allow me time for it :)In order to get Colt to come sit next to us and watch US open HIS presents [yes, he wanted nothing to do with unwrapping] we had to break out the ole' handy dandy sweeper [or 'vacuum' for you southerners].Colt got a baseball mitt and ball from Daddy. Gotta start them young you know? I'm pretty sure we've got a Pedoria or an Ellsbury in the making...just gotta teach him the ball isn't an apple first.Hug it out on 3, Dad!
1...2...3...
I love you, man! Then Colt hugged Copper. Then Dad put together the Monster Tent. Then I sat on the couch and watched. Excuse this grossness.Ya! He loves his dog.We all fit! This monster tent has been my favorite gift Colt has ever gotten, because you know how you play in a tent???? You just lay there under a bunch of blankets...most relaxing game I've ever played. On Christmas Day Colt and I went to my parents early in the morning. In the car before we pulled out of the drive way I reached back for Colt's hand to pray with him before we started out our day. I thanked God for the life we live because of the birth and death of Jesus Christ. It was a beautiful prayer but all the while he was hitting my arm with his new stuffed Giraffe 'General Georgie' because he didn't want to hold my hand, so the beauty in the moment was slightly tainted yet still there. I often remind myself that Jesus was once a crazy 1-year-old too so I'm sure he smiles on those moments.

I woke up Christmas morning by myself but spent it with my Lord. I think for the first time this year the true magnitude of the birth of Christ really hit me. I was over taken with gratitude for the cost of my salvation and that it came through a little baby. A baby was born to die for me.

That's a lot of love.

Christmas Hijacking:)

My wife's blog has been hijacked, by me, her husband! Reasons are as follows:

1) Her only request for her stocking was a note from me.

2) I was going to write that note this morning before I left for work.

3) Around 5am, my hands woke up, reached over and turned my alarm clock off without my knowledge.

4) I woke up 5 minutes after I usually leave for work.

5) I didn't have time to write said note for her stocking, so this is what happened instead. This has potential to be better than a note, and I have never wrote on her blog before. And by the way, lists are pretty good for blogs, now I know why everyone writes a list.

Now, reason's I love my wife:
1) Mo is mostly responsible for this little dude!Look at that smile. Because of her, he is a sweet, caring, huggable, kissable, smart, nice, happy, full, healthy boy full of life. Because of her he is going to be a great big brother too, which takes me to reason #2.

2) She's going to give me a little princess that will be all the things Colt is and more. She is going to have me wrapped around her little finger, I know it...

3) Next, if you look behind my rump, you will see an example of another one of Mo's great attributes, her family. That's her cousin Missy, a perfect example of how crazy her family is. Mo's family has welcomed me into their family and I feel at home. Every single one of them is caring, loving and thankful for everything God has given them. Great people raise great children!

4) Couldn't help myself, look how cute!

5) Last but not least, Mo makes me want to be the best husband and father I can. I strive to provide the best for her, give her the most I can so she can keep our kids and house happy. I'm thankful everyday for what she does for me. Its hard to be away from home on Christmas, but I know that my wife is loved and is loving my little babies while I'm gone. I couldn't ask for more.

I love you babe, is this better than a note in your stocking?

22? 28? let's call the whole thing off.

On Tuesday I had a check up with the baby doctor. I was nervous to get on the scale this time around, being that I had participated in at least 3 hearty Thanksgiving meals AND enjoyed the labor of my Christmas baking in between appointments. None of which I regret.

I knew that morning on my scale at home I had gained like 5ish lbs and by the time I got to the Dr's office to hop on the scale I just decided to leave my weight worries at the elevator so I left my big snow boots on and everything when I got on the scale. It's becoming increasingly harder to put those dang things on and off anyway. 7lbs in one month was the damage. Seven, schmeven.

I brought up my weight jump to my Dr and she reassured me that my weight was on track for being 5 months pregnant and nothing to worry about. Which I was happy about. I for sure thought she'd tell me my diet was restricted to cucumbers and salsa for the rest of my life.

She then listened for the heartbeat [still there and going strong], asked if I've felt movement [I assured her that Molly was already a black belt] and she measured my belly. 28inches. Yes, I measured 28inches. The rule of thumb is you're supposed to measure in inches how many weeks pregnant you are. So for instance...I am currently 22 weeks pregnant with Molly, therefore my belly should have measured in at 22 inches. But because I'm a rule breaker, I measured in at 28 weeks!! Which is six weeks farther along than I really am...translation for anyone still confused, I'M FREAKIN HUGE!!!

Look at this picture and then ask yourself, 'Does this woman look like she can keep expanding for 4 more months with out exploding?' The answer is no.

Hopefully next month I will leveled out naturally or when she lifts my shirt to measure dozens of sugar cookies fall out instead to reveal the correct size belly. We shall see.

I make giants.

my little ham hock

Being a mom, there is something about my child that makes me unable to take my eyes off him. I just stare at him sometimes and wonder how it's humanly possible for something to be so adorable. I like to think that 'something' is the fact that he's mine...but I'm not that cute.

Our wonderful wedding photographer, Julie Schwartz, has been taken our family pictures before we even had a family. We just got Colt's 1 year pictures back and my son, YES Mo's child, is THAT CUTE!!

Feel free to Oooo and Ahhh and drool all over your keyboard.

I think he really enjoyed the cake shots.

a weird fascination...

with the sweeper?!
Not kidding!
The kid loves him some sweeper.I mean, who needs a toy box full of toys when you've got your mother's sweeper to stare at and poke all day long. Today he learned how to open the closet door so now he can access the sweeper whenever he likes. Need a babysitter? Just pull the sweeper out of your closet and VOILA!...instantly quiet and entertained for at least 20 minutes.

Now if only he could turn it on and push...
