meg

My little cousin Meg, after fighting many anxieties of going away to college, took a deep breath and now is a student at Ball State. We were all so proud of her. She has done great and has been loving every second of it. Except the moments when she's home sick...

I'm blessed to stay in touch with her on a constant basis. She texted me last week asking if she could come home from school and spend her Valentines day babysitting Colt for us. She is in love with Colt. She constantly talked to Colt throughout my entire pregnancy and rubbed my belly...she also gave me many foot rubs out of the kindness of her 'pot-lickin' heart. She is my mini-me. I have the best family ever.

Tonight I received the following videos [via text message] from Meg...in this order. I smiled and then laughed very hard.

1. "this video is for you're son...not you"

2. "ok...this one is for you"

3. "wait...this one is better"

4. "Baahahahhaahaa...."

12 days of Valentines

I've been trying to think of something special Andy and I could do for Valentines day. I was going to surprise him and get a hotel room. Panda Express Orange Chicken, Johnny Walker Whiskey, and Risk [the board game] were all going to be waiting in the hotel room when we got there. And if we got bored, the plan of course, would be to try for a 2nd child. The one and only thing married people do when they get bored on the day of love...

You know...'it'.

Aren't I an awesome wifey?

It would have been more awesome if I would have just done it and not blabbed about it on my blog...because Surprise Honey! It's not happening. In my super-cheap-budget-freak state of mind I decided that if I couldn't find a decent hotel room under $50 it wasn't happening.

Tonight we brainstormed on other things we could do and we came up with this...We're going to stay at home and pretend that we're at a hotel.

Creative, I know.

While searching the web for Valentiny things I came upon this website. http://www.lovingyou.com/

It's about as cheesy as they come...but I found a printable booklet called 'Questions for Couples'. It's filled with tons questions that you and your husband go through to get to know each other better. It's 15 pages long :) We have been reading one page of questions a night.

Since I don't have the funds to get a hotel, I will in return make my Valentines experience last many, many nights until my 'Questions for Couples' booklet is complete. Andy's answers always start out good but by the end of the page his questions become more and more rapid fire. Andy looses focus and turns into a six-year-old reciting his ABC's. The last question on the page tonight was...What is the difference between love, romance and sex? Andy's answer: 'Love is Love, Romance is an expression, Sex is an act' He then tossed his copy of the booklet at me and turned off the lights.

I love love.

technical difficulties

Hopefully you found me. Long story short. Andy and I always had to log on under his e-mail so he tried to transfer my blog and even though you can type in my old URL I wasn't able to keep it with my new sign on. So...TA DA...meet my new URL.

I've got some more tweeking to do to get my blog back to the way it was but at least I didn't loose everything. That would have made me sad. Wah.

I feel like I'm hiding and no one can find me.

I'm right here guys.

Hopefully we can still be friends.

on arguments

In my years of marriage and even before we were married I can probably name, honestly, five larger-sized arguments that Andy and I have had.

On top of those five arguments...we've added 3 more. In the last 3 d a y s!

My last text to Andy tonight was: "What in the world is wrong with us??? This is not who we are."

Isn't it sad that when you're frustrated, tired or bothered by something in life you take it out on the the ones you love the most? We have been going back on forth on the the dumbest things. 1) his blackberry...2) sleeping habits...3) my phone etiquette. Who argues over those things? Apparently we do! Ehhhh.

Marriage is typically pretty easy, but lately, I've been putting my dirty clothes and working it out.

Andy,

I miss you. I hope that when you get home tomorrow from class we can start over. This is silly. Life is too short.

Love you,
Mo

moo ha ha

This is my most favorite snack.

And Bob Harper [from B. looser] said that it was one of his too. I do whatever Bob does. He is smart and buff and I'm convinced if I continued to eat these laughing cow cheese wedges I will also become smart and buff.

Speaking of the Biggest Looser. Is Joelle a nutcase or what? I mean, I get that Carla is a bit loud and overbearing and has communication problems...but it just seems like she was totally zoned out that whole time and didn't care at all about being there. Now their not even friends. Dramaaaa.

Andy wants to bet that Joelle doesn't even show up to the finale.

Any takers?

What have you done today to make me feel proud?

5 months

Every morning when I go into Colts room to get him I sing this:

Good morning! Good morning!
We danced the whole night through
Good morning! Good morning! To YOUUU...
Good morning! Good morning!
It's great to be alive!
Good Morning! Good Morning to you!

I know the last part doesn't rhyme...but I didn't make it up. My mom used to sing it to me. Sometimes, just because it annoys me that the end of that song doesn't rhyme...I'll make up a word and say "Good morning...Good morning...BEEHIVE" Just so it rhymes with alive. I know it makes no sense, but it's stupid to sing a sing that doesn't rhyme. Ehhh. I don't know. Anyway.

Today...I sang him Happy Birthday :) And he even made a 'coo' sound at the end. Which in baby talk means, 'Sing it again Mommy' - So I granted him his birthday wish and sang Happy Birthday to him twice.

He smiled.

Today Colt is 5 months old. He looks really old today too. Dang! He's growing up.
Here is what he does at 5 months old.
-He can jump and scream really loudly in his bouncy.
-He can almost suck his big toe.
-He is a supported sitter.
-He is in a size 4 diaper.
-He no longer fits in his baby car seat...but is still too young to upgrade to a larger one. Eh??
-He can see something and move his arms straight towards it and grab it.
-He eats cereal for breakfast.
-He giggles :)
-He can roll!!
-He can hold a 4 oz bottle all on his own.
-He sleeps for 10-10.5 hours a night and naps 4 times a day.
-He stays really quiet during his prayers at night.
-He can't help but smile when he sees Andy or myself.
-He likes to grab Coppers ears.
-He laughs are fart noises.
-He is an angel.
-He can beat me at Jeopardy.
-He wears 12-18 month clothes.
-He rarely cries. And when he does cry, usually I can talk to him and we work it out.
-He says momma. But typically it's because he's starts to moan with the letter 'm' and 'mama' comes out. I know he's saying my name by accident...but officially, 'mama' has been his first word :)

Colt,

Your 1st 5 months on this earth have been my best 5 months. You are the best.

Love,
Your mom

devo devo

I need a good devotional. Anyone know of any? I searched through all our books the other day and found some old school devotionals from my Honor Academy days, but many of them were like tiny one pagers with a quick verse on it...nothing that got me digging in. They also had my chicken scratch notes trying to keep up with Ron Luce's fast talking teachings...and I rarely completed a sentence. I'll bet the end of the sentence really brought the whole message together. darn.

hit me up.

tapping my inner June Cleaver.

I used to work 40+ hours a week and be in charge of many things. Then there was baby and I went to working 8 hours a week manning a gift shop for my friends. As of yesterday I'm no longer doing that. I don't know what got into me...but it was like pulling teeth to get my butt in gear, say goodbye to my baby and be gone for a whole 4 hours a day...twice a week. This meant getting out of my pajamas, put my big girl pants and rejoining the world as you know it. I'd rather change poopy diapers, talk to Kathie Lee and Hoda through my TV screen and stare at my planner all day.

Andy, being the bread winner and the one having the final say to whether I could stay at home or not finally said Yes. But, after saying yes, he made things very clear..."If you stay home, this whole house is yours" - translation...'You must tap into your inner June Cleaver'

So last night I put lipstick on before I made dinner.

I didn't have the apron or the high heals or the fresh water pearl necklace but I'm working on it.

This transformation is going to be a process.

blackberry

Andy recently brought home this blackberry thinigie.

We're so not the fancy blackberry type. But I must say, he looks very important while talking on it. My favorite part is that I can check my mail from the car...or the store...or a gas station. Pretty much, I can check it any place where I'm not at a computer.
He said he needed it for his paramedic class. I guess there is a program the lets you download every drug possible, so if he is ever in question of what something is, he can just hop on his phone and find the answer.
I've yet to see this program...I have on the other hand seen Boston Red Sox and UFC updates pop up on his phone. I think he may have used this paramedic thing just to get a new toy.
Regardless, he is now one notch higher on my coolness scale.
